Message from the Captain

The California Cowgirls Equestrian Drill Team is an advanced drill team that will commit to new riders who have the desire, aptitude, and skill set for drill. Every team member must make the California Cowgirls Team a priority in their schedules for practices, competitions, and performances.

Take a look at the performance Schedule for the current year for an idea of the commitment. The cowgirls practice Thursday and Friday nights at the Curtis Ranch in Wilton, from 7-9 PM, with additional practices when necessary. Feel free to stop by to meet the cowgirls to watch a practice. Rider Requirements

Ability to ride and perform maneuvers at speed (gallop)
Must have transportation to & from practices & events
We do work with riders on getting up to speed, as it does take practice

Horse Requirements

Quarter Horse, Paint, or Appaloosas, 14.2 to 15.2 hands
Well mannered around other horses: (no biting, kicking, or rearing)
Must neck rein, walk, trot, canter, gallop.
