About Us

The dream of amazing a crowd with fast & fancy horses, breathtaking maneuvers, and glamorous outfits became a reality for Captain Sara Curtis in 1994. Fifteen years later that dream is alive now more than ever.

The California Cowgirls appear at rodeos, horse shows, parades and special events throughout California, and Nevada. Clad in eye-catching costumes, carrying rippling American flags, and riding American Paints, Appaloosas and Quarter Horses in complex drill routines at top speed around the arena. These Cowgirls receive standing ovations at every performance. The list of accomplishments says it all.

The California Cowgirls hail from Wilton, California, southeast of Sacramento. The Cowgirls consider their role as a California Cowgirl a combination of play and hard work made easier with the love of western traditions, people, and horses.

Today, the California Cowgirls are preparing for their largest event yet, the upcoming 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky at the Kentucky Horse Park.
