Sara, Captain
Brave. That's what Sara is, brave. She started riding horses late in life, and just trail riding wasn't enough. Soon Sara found herself barreling around an arena at break neck speed atop a trust worthy leopard Appaloosa mare named Fancy. The thrill of that experience ignited Sara's passion for the sport of equestrian drill. Sara decided to start her own team, asking dear friends and her sister Mary to join the team, to which all said "Yes!" The rest, as they say, is history! This Cowgirl Sponsored by
S. Curtis Fine Jewelry.
Brittany defines the resilient spirit of the cowgirl. Having only been involved with horses since she was 11, at 15 Brittany was stricken with a deadly disease, bacterial meningitis. Once going septic, Doctors told her family she would not survive. But Brittany wasn't ready to die and fought for her life. Although she survived, the disease still took both her lower legs. Skillfully riding her horse on the team, you could not pick her out in the drill. This newlywed works as an Equine Health Tech at a vet clinic and is working toward her nursing degree. Jessica S.
Dedicated and hardworking, Jessica is currently in a registered nursing program and is scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2010. Even though there are times where she has exams three weeks in a row, she still loves to make time for drill. Jessica has always loved horses, enjoying trail riding and cutting. However, her favorite pastime is riding drill with her sweetie mare Miss California Delight A.K.A. Cali. You can always count on seeing Jessica flying around the arena on one of her paint horses enjoying the excitement of drill! Back to Top of Page
Debbie
Patriotism runs in the family & arena for Debbie & her sister Linda K., both founding members. Many of her relatives have served in the military & Debbie is proud to honor them by carrying the American flag while performing with the drill team. The team was recently presented with an American flag flown over IRAQ during combat by a family member & is a symbol of the dedication to those that have or are still serving our country. The Cowgirls ride with this flag whenever possible. She can’t think of a better way to mix the love for her country & horses. Back to Top of Page
Emily
At the age of 3 when Emily asked for horses instead of Barbies, it was obvious that she was a born horse lover. But it wasn't until she was 14 that her wonderfully supportive mother could buy Emily her first horse. After graduation, Emily soon realized that she wanted more out of horses. She found a cutting trainer and a cattle ranch to work at in Tracy where she lived for 2 years. When Emily returned home to finish college, she was soon acquainted with the California Cowgirls and fell in love with the passion and excitement of Drill. Back to Top of Page . Back to Top of Page

Sandy H.
Sandy H. has been a California Cowgirl ever since her cousin called 15 years ago and asked if she'd like to ride with a great group of women. Loving horses and having gone to high school with the Captain Sara, it was an easy decision. Sandy feels blessed to have her only daughter Jessica on the team which has been a real delight. Horses have also positively affected Sandy's life in the class room, teaching her the body language she has needed to be successful working with junior high students for the past 10 years. Back to Top of Page Back to Top of Page Many years ago, Kathy & her husband took their six kids to a rodeo and a wonderful drill team came flying in. Right then, Kathy vowed to herself that she was going to do that some day. Now that Kathy's kids are grown with families of their own and she has 16 grandchildren, that someday is here. Kathy is riding her dream on a horse that was marked to be put down because he was deemed "wild and crazy" from abuse. He gives Kathy all he's got and now they are both living out their dreams. Lauri
Wind in her hair, mane flying in her face, that first ride on her pony, a little giggle of glee escaped from an excited 9 yr old. That experience ignited Lauri’s passion for horses. But horses was not to be in Lauri’ immediate future. Years later, now having started a family of 3 wonderful children with her devoted husband John, Lauri uses her free time to enjoy the thrill of drill. She is currently finishing out her senior at Davis High while looking forward to postponing college for a semester to perform at the 2010 WEG with the team.
